“Lady of the Grocery Flowers: Hair”

This poem was inspired by my long history of working in a grocery store as a floral department manager. In fact, I wrote parts of this in the store while I was still employed there last year! I was always trying to write a ‘grocery store florist’ poem that explored deeper truths by way of the floral-retail environment. I feel that this poem succeeded at that, and I was happy that it found a home at MidWest Review!
